Description

We recognise that many learners are interested in working as special needs assistants in schools. This course allows learners to access jobs within this area, as well as equipping them with the qualification required to work in Early Years education or in creche/playgroup settings.

Students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of placement in a registered childcare setting or recognised primary school.

Garda vetting is mandatory for this course and is organised by the College.

Progression

On completion of Early Childhood Care and Education Level 5, many students move directly to employment in crèches, preschools and other childcare settings. Some students choose to progress within the college to Early Childhood Care and Education, Level 6 QQI 6M2007
Graduates of the programme may also progress to Universities and Institutes of Technology.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Candidates need to have completed Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent.
Mature applicants welcome.
Must attend programme advisory meeting.

Registration fee is non refundable, and secures course place.
Exemptions from Government Levy and QQI exam fee for medical card holders, those in Receipt of the SUSI grant, Back to Education Allowance or VTOS
